Client: Runnymede Borough Council

This prestigious project for Runnymede Borough Council, contains a large community hall, together with a smaller hall, two meeting rooms, kitchen, bar, toilets, entrance and reception areas.

The design was based upon providing the client with a fluid space, easily managed to accommodate the changing needs of community users.

The controlled use of daylight to create a bright, spacious and contemporary building, invites the public to enter and participate in the activities on offer and helps to reduce running costs of the centre. All of the external areas are fully accessible, and have been carefully landscaped to create a harmonious link between the external and interior spaces. This approach utilises the full extent of the site and provides additional outdoor facilities to the community.

This project has been developed in close collaboration with the Local Authority, user groups and local residents through a series of exhibitions, meetings and workshops.

The project cost was £1.3m and work was completed in November 2002. The building has been awarded Local Authority Accessible Building award.
