The new facilities currently under construction at Sporting Club Thamesmead (on the current Thamesmead Town FC site which is on Metropolitan Open Land) have been designed to reinforce the open nature of the site and create a modern, high quality community focused resource.

Sporting Club Thamesmead will be easily accessible to all, providing a range of sporting activities, social and community facilities, as well as improving the enjoyment of participating in Thamesmead Town Football Club, whether simply watching the game, playing or coaching.

The sustainable design seeks to enhance the ecology and biodiversity of the site through landscaping, green roofs, earth mounding and energy conservation. The development incorporates solar thermal panels, rainwater harvesting, a ground source heat pump. The site will provide improved parking for visitors and also reduce impact on local residents by providing improved parking sensitively landscaped to compliment the park.

This is an exciting and forward thinking project which we are hoping will engage Thamesmead’s vibrant local community. It forms a part of the wider plans and vision for Thamesmead lead by Trust Thamesmead and its partners as we strive to improve local community facilities across Thamesmead.
